What is ISO 22000?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) developed the Food Safety Management System Certification: ISO 22000. ISO 22000 can be applied independently of other management system standards or integrated with existing management system requirements.
ISO 22000 is a Food Safety Management System that can be applied to any organization in the food chain from farm to fork. ISO 22000 Standard is applicable to all types of organizations irrespective of size, nature or geography of all Food Chain from farm to feed, primary producers, food manufacturers, transport & storage operators and industry such as producers of equipment, packaging, cleaning agents, additives, ingredients and related to food.
Becoming certified to ISO 22000 allows a company to show their customers that they have a food safety management system in place. This provides customer confidence in the product. This is becoming more and more important as customers demand safe food and food processors require that ingredients obtained from their suppliers to be safe.
ISO 22000 extends benefits for the management system approach of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with Hazard Analysis & Critical Controls - HACCP and plans in order to provide Safe Food.
